Job Description

We are looking for a Health Insurance Underwriter responsible for assessing and analyzing risks associated with insuring individuals or groups. This role involves evaluating applications to determine coverage terms, premiums, and exclusions to ensure profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Evaluate health insurance applications by reviewing medical records, financial status, and relevant information.
- Assess risk levels and set appropriate premiums for applicants.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and policies.
- Collaborate with actuaries to analyze statistical data and establish premium rates.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
- Communicate underwriting decisions to agents, brokers, and policyholders.
- Update existing policies to reflect changes in risk or regulations.
- Work with sales and marketing teams to develop competitive insurance products.
- Provide training and support to junior underwriters and staff.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in underwriting, preferably in health insurance.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of health insurance regulations and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
