Job Description

Are you a compassionate and skilled Physician (Psychiatrist, Neurologist, or Physiatrist PM&R) seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of veterans? We're looking for a dedicated professional with experience in evaluating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) to join our team and conduct comprehensive, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for veterans. If you're passionate about serving those who served our country and possess strong clinical skills, we encourage you to apply!

About the Role:

As a TBI Physician, you'll play a vital role in the disability evaluation process for veterans. You'll conduct thorough medical assessments, including evaluations for TBI, meticulously documenting your findings through a web-based system. Your expertise will provide crucial information to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, enabling them to make informed disability determinations. This is a part-time, contract position offering a flexible schedule, including remote and face-to-face exams, based in Norfolk, VA.

What You'll Do:

Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide veterans with one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams.
Capture responses during the exam through web-based examination form(s); all documentation will be completed electronically.
Complete exams, which are then sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations.
Conduct assessments for TBI, often resulting from motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, or combat exposure.
Order and interpret diagnostic testing (Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) if clinically indicated, neuropsychological testing referrals, and ancillary tests like X-rays, labs, EKGs, PFTs, ABIs). These tests will be conducted on-site or nearby.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Utilize good interpersonal skills and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
What You'll Bring:

A Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) or Neurology, with experience in evaluating for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Primary care experience.
An active and unrestricted license in the specialty field of M.D. or D.O.
An active and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Basic computer skills.
Bonus Points For:

Prior VA or compensation exam experience.
What We Offer:

Competitive compensation, paid bi-weekly.
Support from a dedicated representative throughout your contract.
A healthy work/life balance.
A chance to make a real difference in the lives of veterans.
A supportive and collaborative work environment.
Flexible schedule, including remote and face-to-face exams.
About Us:

We are dedicated to providing a framework of stability and structure for our valued employees. We believe in lower provider-to-patient ratios and fair, reliable schedules. We are honored to hire Healthcare Heroes to serve our Military Heroes, sharing in our mission to provide excellent healthcare with dignity, compassion, and pride.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $ 217,244.00 Per Year
