Are you a detail-oriented mortgage professional with a knack for navigating complex loan scenarios? We're looking for a Non-Agency Underwriter to join our dynamic team and help us continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients and partners.
Role Summary:
As a Non-Agency Underwriter, you'll play a crucial role in evaluating mortgage loan applications and documentation. Your expertise will help us make informed decisions, maximize profitability, and minimize risk. You'll leverage your extensive knowledge of loan products and guidelines to underwrite applications efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Loan Evaluation: Review and analyze applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other financial documents to make sound loan decisions.
- Problem Solving: Collaborate with team members to identify solutions or exceptions for denied loan files.
- Document Analysis: Interpret complex tax returns and financial documents with precision.
- Adaptability: Stay current with program changes and guidelines, implementing new processes with minimal error.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to internal and external clients, ensuring a positive experience.
- Knowledge Maintenance: Keep up-to-date with available loan products and investor guidelines.
- Confidentiality: Adhere to confidentiality standards in line with security policies.
- Mentorship: Guide and support underwriting team members when needed.
- System Utilization: Use DU and LP underwriting systems effectively.
- Collaboration: Build and maintain constructive relationships with team members and contribute to departmental efficiency.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to work overtime as required and handle additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two years in mortgage loan underwriting.
- Systems Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience with DU and LP underwriting systems.
- Guidelines Knowledge: Thorough understanding of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines, and familiarity with a range of loan products.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Multi-tasking: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a standard office setting with tasks involving computer use. The position requires some sitting and walking throughout the day. Flexibility for overtime may be necessary to meet task deadlines.
