Applies a range of massage techniques involving hands and fingers to relieve pain in muscles, soft tissues, and other parts of the body.
Earning potential: $40 - $75 per massage Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Greets patient and walks them into their appropriate room for treatment. Place patients on and off therapy such as traction table as well as decompression table.
Places patients into adjustment rooms after therapy and ensure a smooth flow.
Takes and develops x-rays.
Massages patients who have a flare-up and those that are billed for massage in conjunction with their Chiropractic Care.
Massages patients for half hour and one-hour treatments.
Schedule follow-up appointment with patient and notify front desk so that they can add to system.
At the beginning of a shift turn on lights, view boxes, TV's and therapy beds.
Start with the consult rooms and work your way around all the treatment rooms.
Turn on hydrocollator and check water level.
Change water from hydrocollator weekly, on a ration with other therapists.
Maintains equipment as well as light cleaning.
Cleans adjustment tables and concentrate on face piece to remove makeup, facial oils, etc.
Wash gowns, linens, and towels daily.
Place them in the washer and drier, fold and place back in x-ray room.
Inspects rooms for cleanliness and neatness.
Ensures massage rooms are neat and tidy and massage tables must be always made.
Takes inventory of supplies bi-weekly.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required.
At least one year of experience in a health care setting.
Completion of massage therapy training program through an approved school or apprenticeship program required.
Active licensure as a massage therapist required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to correctly perform a variety of massage techniques including deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, hot stone therapy, Thai massage, or sports massage.
Friendly and courteous demeanor, with ability to help patrons feel welcomed and relaxed.
Required to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods.
Must be able to communicate with or without reasonable accommodations – speak and hear.
Able to use both hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to push up to 300lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
