About The Position

Location: Remote, priortizing candidates in the Western United States or Washington D.C. Strong preference for Colorado or Washington D.C. applicants.

In this pivotal role, you will craft compelling grant proposals and reports that fuel our mission to bridge the divide between communities and their lands and waters.

In collaboration with our Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) you will be instrumental in securing crucial funding for these important initiatives, and your partnership with our communications and marketing teams will further amplify our awareness campaigns. Your work will support our commitment to preserving and enhancing public lands for future generations.

What You’ll Do

  • Create Impactful Grant Proposals: Write and manage grant proposals and reports for government, foundation, and corporate grants.

  • Manage Grant Pipeline: Develop and maintain a comprehensive annual grant proposal calendar to ensure timely submissions.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with the CDO and CEO to prepare and submit grant requests, including proposals, presentations, budgets, and letters of support.

  • Research Funding Opportunities: Identify and pursue grant opportunities from both government and non-government sources.

  • Build Funder Relationships: Establish and nurture relationships with funder contacts and program officers.

  • Engage Funders: Assist with funder site visits and plan and execute funder events.

  • Ensure Timely Acknowledgment: Promptly acknowledge grants to maintain strong funder relationships.

  • Maintain Accurate Records: Use Salesforce to manage grant records, ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness.

  • Support Development Initiatives: Contribute to the development team's efforts by writing copy for projects, including annual reports and newsletters.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Passion and Drive: A deep commitment to the mission of the Foundation for America's Public Lands and the preservation of public lands.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of grant writing, fundraising, or related experience, with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets of over $1 Million annually.

  • Technical Proficiency: High level of computer literacy, including familiarity with Salesforce, Foundation Center databases, Guidestar, and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Excellent research, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and persuasively.

  • Collaborative Spirit: High energy, positive attitude, flexibility, teamwork, initiative, and attention to detail.

  • Financial Acumen: Ability to develop and manage budgets and prepare financial reports.

  • Educational Background: Undergraduate degree, preferably in English, Communications, Creative Writing, or a related area.

  • Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with Fluxx, Salesforce, Neon, or Raiser’s Edge databases, and experience in nonprofits, particularly in the conservation, recreation, restoration, and environment fields.

Compensation: $80,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Benefits: Group medical/vision/dental benefits with 100% employer contribution for employees and 75% contribution for dependents; life insurance; 401k retirement savings plan; and generous holiday and paid time off policies.

Location: US-remote, prioritizing candidates in the Western U.S. in the PT/MT time zone with preference given to those residing in Colorado or Washington D.C.

Travel: 5-10%
