Job Summary:
As a DRG/APC Coordinator - Coding Auditor, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of coding assignments for all records requiring DRG and/or APC coding. Your responsibilities will include conducting data quality reviews on inpatient and outpatient records, providing coding quality information and reports, and collaborating with medical staff to address clinical questions related to coding. Additionally, you'll stay abreast of coding guidelines, participate in team meetings, and maintain accreditation and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct data quality reviews on inpatient and outpatient records to ensure accurate coding assignments
Provide coding quality information and statistical reports to the Coding Manager
Collaborate with medical staff to address clinical questions related to coding assignments
Educate medical staff on the importance of sufficient documentation for coding accuracy
Review and suggest updates to hospital-specific coding guidelines and procedures
Participate in team meetings to discuss coding issues and changes
Maintain accreditation and compliance with industry standards
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials
Four years of coding experience with a minimum of two years of PPS coding, DRG grouping, and APC payment experience
Three years of inpatient facility coding experience
Proficiency in 3M HDM Abstracting System and 3M Codefinder/DRG finder
Knowledge of JCAHO standards for chart completion
Understanding of medico-legal rules and regulations regarding medical information confidentiality
Strong data entry skills

Anticipated Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, approximately 40 hours per week, with no on-call shifts
