Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Associate Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will analyze applicant responses on applications to determine policy issuance and rate levels using established protocols and commercial medical underwriting guidelines. You will also interpret applicants' medical records in line with these guidelines. Additionally, you may assist in protocol development, train and guide assistant underwriting staff, and report detailed activities to management. This position also involves developing reports for management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Information Analysis: Evaluate health information from applicants using commercial underwriting guidelines.
- Communication Management: Effectively communicate underwriting requirements and decisions with sales personnel.
- Best Practices: Identify and document best practices and operational efficiencies.
- Process Documentation: Create and document standardized processes for individual underwriting.
- Training and Guidance: Train and guide assistant personnel in department processes and practices related to Individual Underwriting.
- Workflow Management: Organize and manage individual underwriting workflow to deliver accurate quotes on time.
- Reporting: Summarize and report activities to the manager.
- Data Compilation: Compile all necessary data for auditing department activities.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with domestic and international insurance laws and regulations.
- Guideline Development: Document department activities and, with manager input, develop underwriting guidelines for department control processes.
- Monthly and Quarterly Reporting: Maintain data sets through regular reporting.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Represent underwriting as a subject matter expert.
- File Maintenance: Maintain department file systems.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience: At least one year of experience with health insurance underwriting procedures.
- Industry Interest: A strong desire to work in the international health insurance industry.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Technical Requirements: Minimum internet speed of 75 Mbps (standard high-speed internet access).
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility: Ability to work in both an office and remote environment.
- Schedule: Occasional overtime and schedule flexibility may be necessary. You may need to attend key business/departmental meetings and perform critical job functions outside of normal working hours.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to communicate effectively internally and externally using auditory and visual methods.
